Goodnight, Bhikkhu.
A nighttime gratitude meditation for my child
The words below are ones that I have written over a thousand bedtimes.
Each night when I put my child to bed, I say the following. Each line followed by a deep, sincere breath. Helping my child to come closer to that moment, along with me.
Goodnight, feet. Thank you for helping me run today.
Goodnight, legs. Thank you for helping me climb today.
Goodnight, bottom. Thank you for helping me sit today.
Goodnight, tummy. Thank you for helping me laugh today.
Goodnight, chest. Thank you for helping me get up today.
Goodnight, arms. Thank you for helping me hug today.
Goodnight, hands. Thank you for helping me hold today.
Goodnight, cheeks. Thank you for helping me smile today.
Goodnight, nose. Thank you for helping me breathe today.
Goodnight, ears. Thank you for helping me listen today.
Goodnight, eyes. Thank you for helping me see today.
